Located at the entrance to Camden’s inner harbor, on the western side of Penobscot Bay, Camden Yacht Club (CYC) is a vibrant, family-oriented club which has served the boating community since 1906. CYC operates seasonally from May through October and is a well-known destination for down east cruisers.
Our junior program, called the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program (CAYSP), has produced many fine racers who have gone on to success in college sailing and beyond.
The CYC is searching for an individual to serve as the Club’s Operations Manager. A full description of duties and desired skills can be downloaded by clicking HERE. Please forward a letter of interest with a copy of your resume, three references, as well as an outline showing with specificity how your qualifications match each of the duties and desired skills listed in the Job Description to the club’s email address by August 10: email@example.com.
The Camden Yacht Club facility has served the boating community since the early 1900s. Nationally renowned architect, John Calvin Stevens, was hired to design the present-day shingle style clubhouse, with its oriental overtones and large porches. In 1980, the clubhouse was placed on the National Historic Register.
Itinerate moorings and inner harbor floats are available to the general public at a fee.
Club members enjoy seasonal dining on the lawn and frequent club functions throughout the year. The Club is available for both member and non-member use for special occasions.
Rental Facility: The Camden Yacht Club is a beautiful location for a wedding or a special event. Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program: Sailing classes have been an important part of the Camden Yacht Club since 1951. We have grown from five turnabouts and one class per day to a fleet of 45 boats (Optimists, 420s and/or Mercuries) and eight different sailing/boating class levels.
Cruising and Sailing: For many sailors, Downeast Maine is the ultimate cruising destination and the reason why many of CYC’s members live in Maine. Camden Harbor has long been a starting or stopping point for cruising the many quiet coves, harbors, and islands of Penobscot Bay and points east.
Racing: The Camden Yacht Club organizes and participates in a series of Regattas, such as the Camden Invitational Regatta, Wooden Boat Series, King of Spain races, Codger Cup, CYC Solo Challenge, and a few more.
Sunset Seminars: These talks are postponed until the 2021 season. For archives of prior years, click here.
Members Events: In addition, CYC organizes regular events, cocktail parties, brunches, barbecues, cruises, and more.
