Maine’s vibrant, family-oriented Yacht Club since 1906

Welcome to CYC!

Camden-Yacht-Club-from-the-water

Located at the entrance to Camden’s inner harbor, on the western side of Penobscot Bay, Camden Yacht Club (CYC) is a vibrant, family-oriented club which has served the boating community since 1906. CYC operates seasonally from May through October and is a well-known destination for Downeast cruisers.

Our youth sailing arm, the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program (CAYSP), has produced many fine racers who have gone on to success in college sailing and beyond.

Launch service is available to members throughout the season. For more information, please go to our Facilities and/or Contacts page.

Give to the CYC & CAYSP Holiday Fund

We encourage all CYC members and Youth Sailing Program families to contribute generously to our annual Holiday Fund as a way to give thanks to all CYC and CAYSP staff who make our club and its programs so special. Making a contribution is easy! Click on the button below to pay online, or send a check (made out to CYC Holiday Fund) to Camden Yacht Club, PO Box 204, Camden, ME 04843. Thank you!

Club Facilities

The Camden Yacht Club facility has served the boating community since the early 1900s. Nationally renowned architect John Calvin Stevens was hired to design the present-day shingle style clubhouse, with its oriental overtones and large porches. In 1980, the clubhouse was placed on the National Historic Register.

Itinerate moorings and inner harbor floats are available to the general public at a fee.

Club members enjoy lunch service from mid June through early September and frequent club functions throughout the year. The Club is available for both member and non-member use for special occasions.

Reciprocity: The Camden Yacht Club is a member of the Yachting Club of America and listed in their Registry of American Yacht Clubs. We offer reciprocity to members of other yacht clubs listed in the registry. To find out if your club is a member, contact your club’s office. If your club is not a member of the registry, you may receive reciprocity by providing a letter of introduction from your club indicating that reciprocity is similarly offered to CYC members. Those wishing to use reciprocity should bring their current membership card or a letter of introduction from their club, and stop by the Club Manager’s office upon arrival. Our reciprocal services include lunch and launch service, when capacity allows. Lunch reservations are recommended. Please keep in mind that parking at the club is reserved for CYC members only.

Special Event Rentals: The Camden Yacht Club is a beautiful location for a wedding or a special event. Sitting at the entrance to Camden’s inner harbor, our location offers unique and stunning views both into the harbor towards the Camden Hills, and to the south and east across the outer harbor and Penobscot Bay. Programs & Activities

Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program: Sailing classes have been an important part of the Camden Yacht Club since 1951. We have grown from five turnabouts and one class per day to a fleet of 45 boats (Optimists, 420s and/or Mercuries) and eight different sailing/boating class levels. This program is open to the public for all children ages 6 and up. Generous scholarship support is also available on a need basis. Learn more about our community youth sailing program HERE. Check out our 2021 course line-up HERE.

Cruising and Sailing: For many sailors, Downeast Maine is the ultimate cruising destination and the reason why many of CYC’s members live in Maine. Camden Harbor has long been a starting or stopping point for cruising the many quiet coves, harbors, and islands of Penobscot Bay and points east.

Racing: The Camden Yacht Club organizes and participates in a series of Regattas, such as the Camden Invitational Regatta, Wooden Boat Series, King of Spain races, Codger Cup, CYC Solo Challenge, and a few more.

Sunset Seminars: These enlightening talks are open to the public and held on Wednesday nights during the summer. Find full descriptions and watch livestreams of each seminar HERE, or CLICK HERE for a summary this year’s line-up that can be downloaded or printed. For archives of prior years, click here.

Member Events: There is always something fun happening at CYC! Our members organize a busy social calendar that includes BBQs, cocktail parties, meet-and-greets, brunches, and picnics.
