2020 CAYSP Staff

Sue Conover, Dir.

The 2020 season will be Sue’s 13th year directing CAYSP. Sue has deep roots at the Camden Yacht Club, learning to sail and then teaching here through her teenage years. She then went on to work for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound Sailing School for several years. She now balances her love of the harbor and sailing in the summers with working at a local school. She is very excited about another fabulous year.

Ella Simon

Ella has been sailing since she was 8 years old. Over the years, she has sailed her way through the beginners class all the way up to the 420 race team. Since 7th grade, Ella has sailed on the high school spring sailing team because she can’t get enough time on the water or in the sun. This will be her 7th summer teaching sailing and she can’t wait for another exciting season to begin. When she’s not sailing, you can find Ella rowing on Megunticook Lake, painting murals, or skiing all over Maine.

Samantha Zwecker

Samantha is 18 years old and has been sailing at the Yacht Club since she was 8. This will be Samantha’s 6th year as an apprentice at CAYSP. She teaches in the morning and races 420s in the afternoon. Samantha lives in Rockport, and enjoys soccer, ski racing, and lacrosse. She is looking forward to a wonderful summer of 2020 at CAYSP!

Hugh Levitt

Hugh Levitt is 20 and coming back to CAYSP for his 7th year of instructing. He has been sailing for 11 years at both CAYSP and LYC, where he began his sailing career. Hugh will teach sail in the morning and sail 420s on the race team in the afternoon. If he is not on the water he likes to be on the move outside. Hugh is excited to be coming back to CYC for another wonderful summer.

Cedar Andrus

Cedar is coming back this summer for his 6th year as an instructor. Cedar grew up in Camden harbor, care-taking the lighthouse with his family. In doing so he was exposed to many different weather and boat situations. He has been sailing here his whole life and loves inspiring others to do the same. Cedar loves working with kids and is looking forward to another summer of teaching.
