Camden Yacht Club is pleased to offer the Solo Challenge race as part of its annual PHRF Race Program. These race participant do not use the “I can’t find crew” excuse to get out on the race course. The race uses the pursuit start sequence to reduce starting line jitters, so “fun” is the operative word for the race.
The race is held late in the summer and is open to properly equipped monohull sailboats with a LOA greater than 20 feet. The event will be just before the Maine Rocks Race and will serve as a great tuneup for that race.
All CYC handicap racing is conducted is conducted under the handicap ratings of PHRF NE. To obtain a certificate go to GMORA.org (Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association), join and fill out the rating form. If you wish to race but do not have a current rating certificate, the Race Committee may at its sole discretion assign a rating to your boat. Repeated efforts to race without a current valid certificate may result in an increased rating penalty assigned by the Race Committee.
